3-6 weeks: The half life of T4 (thyroid hormone) is 7 days. The general rule is that it takes 3 half-lives for something to be considered out of your system. After about 3 weeks you should be reaching your new steady state of thyroid hormone in your blood and should be able to tell if your remaining thyroid lobe will be able to compensate or if you will need supplemental thyroid hormone.
