Depends on details: The details of why and how the surgery was performed as well as baseline health status all impact length of stay (los). Generally, minimally invasive (vats or robotic) surgery has shorter los then thoracotomy. Generally, more "normal" lung tissue vs emphysematous/copd lung tissue has less complications and therefore shorter los. Saying much beyond would be wild speculation.

Be glad: Non cancer is good! how old? Smoker? Lucky!, i suspect your lungs had some emphysema and an air leak from the removed area of the lung caused a delay in your hospital discharge.
