Which med is the best for anxiety, buspar (buspirone) or a ssri med.thanks?

They both can: Work well either alone or in combination. For more severe anxiety - i would select ssri over buspar (buspirone). But i think Buspar (buspirone) is a gem of a medication.

Both: Both are good options. Ssri's are easier to use because less side effects and once daily dosing wheras Buspar (buspirone) has multiple side effects and unclear efficacy. Over the counter supplements such as 5-htp can help anxiety through serotonin modulation and could be a nice alternative. Good luck.
