Low: 1000 units is still low. It takes time to replace vitamin d. Oftentimes, you need much higher dose to get to an adequate level.

Vitamin D: Unlikely that a test for vitamin d, 25 (oh ) is wrong. Occasionally there is a lab error. However, 1, 000 iu of vitamin d3 a day is not sufficient. Usually 4-8 thousand iu a day a after a loading those for a month will bring serum vitamin d 25 (oh) to levels of 50-70.

1000 iu not enough!: This may sound strange, given that the recommended daily intake of vit d is 600 iu, but the authorities are way off the mark! most adults need to take 5000-8000 iu of d3 a day in fall ; winter to achieve optimal levels of 50-80. 1000 iu is not enough for most people! the test could be wrong, but you probably need more.
