A member asked:

I have vitamin d deficiency. i've been told by primary to take vitamin d3 to boost my levels but i have read a fair amount of conflicting information about d3 supplements... recent studies... is it safe to take? should i take with low levels?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: If you have low D levels it is because your diet has not acquired enough or your system looses it.Either way supplements guided by an occasional blood check is not only safe but helps you avoid many other health issues. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin that can be stored by the body & get to dangerous levels if taken at extreme doses. You need to clarify with your doc the amount you need to take
