Not likely cancer: Most enlarged tonsils are due to past infections. They are much less likely to be due to cancer. Most cancerous tonsils are high grade non-hodgkin's lymphomas. You are unlikely to have a tonsil enlarged by lymphoma for 15 years without lymphoma treatment.

Hello just a quick question. About two months ago woke up to realize I had one enlarged tonsil. I've seen a ent who really isn't to concerned. As he said you would be able to tell if it was cancer. What couod cause this overnight? Size is L+2 R +1?
Went to ENT for asymmetric tonsil. He noted my left adenoid is extremely enlarged but doesn't look like cancer/infection. What else causes asymmetry?
