A member asked:

Seen ent 4 asymetrical tonsils, normal. tongue pain same side as larger tonsil ent says no lesion. now upper mouth pain r side. tonsil cancer metasis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The tonsil is an aggragate of lymphocytes to help protect against oral bacteria. When one side is enlarged there could be a lesion but ulceration would be seen or some evidence of a destructive process. With tumor, spread to the ipsilateral side lymph nodes would be seen. and easily identified . Upper mouth pain is most frequently seen with inflammation.
