Depends on surgery: But if it is due to medication, this can be dangerous. If angioedema starts up due to allergy to a medication, it can lead to difficulty breathing, even respiratory failure if not treated. If it gets any worse or breathing problems are even hinted at, get to a hospital. Ask physician whether Benadryl (diphenhydramine) would be appropriate for at home use. Be cautious with this situation.
