Carotid pain: 43 is a little early for significant carotid artery disease. While disease in your carotid artery can most certainly cause tias and strokes when it gets severe, it almost never ever hurts. Much more likely neck strain; something musculoskeletal.

Carotidynia: Rare cause of neck pain is Carotidynia. It's not related to strokes either.
