A member asked:

I just had alloderm gum surgery in top 2 front teeth and gum is whiter and swollen is this an infection?

Not likely: Infections will be swollen, painful (more so than what you are likely experiencing), and red. The white color is most likely the color of the graft under your gums. Follow all post operative instructions carefully and you will most likely come out of this procedure with good results and no infection. If you suspect that infection is happening then call your periodontist.

Not necessarily: You just had the surgery, you need to give it some time and follow the post operative instructions given by your dentist. Of course, he is the best person to ask and show the area in question.

Normal healing: After awhile the white spot changed to reddish/pink. Take care.
