Dry socket: Clot washed out of the socket, exposing the bone to oral bacteria. Irrigation and medicated packing removes debris and helps the socket heal. Follow your dentist's advice.

Likely : If a clot doesn’t stay in the extraction site it can lead to dry socket. This is usually caused by suction from smoking, drinking through a straw or irrigation too soon after the clot is formed. Steroids are very good at removing inflammation which is causing you the discomfort.
