Yes: If you are not compliant, have terrible hygiene, they fear your actions have placed your teeth at risk-- there are reasons for them to dismiss you as a patient. What they likely would not risk is to dismiss you for non-payment as they may face legal action.

Yes: Treatment is an agreement between the practitioner and the patient. There are many reasons why treatment could be modified or cancelled. Discuss your situation with your Orthodontist for explanation of what's happening and why.

Cancel Ortho Tx ?: The answer is "maybe". Cooperation is key to successful orthodontic treatment. If you, the patient, do not brush well (poor oral hygiene), eat things you should not (excessive breakage), or do things that could be detrimental to your overall oral health, he/she may determine its best not to move forward. Also, non-payment is a reason to cease seeing you as a patient.
