Orthodontic treatmen: Your orthodontist is using his best judgement as to your need for treatment. He has evaluated your teeth for both esthetic and functional problems, and come to the conclusion that orthodontic treatment would not serve you well. If you still feel you need treatment, seek another opinion.

Research: If you are not confident with the answer you have received, seek 2nd (or 3rd) opinion with qualified Orthodontic Specialist(s). If each practitioner feels the same way, there are good and just reasons to not treat. Ask for a more complete explanation.

Ortho Tx or Not?: If your orthodontic specialist does NOT recommend orthodontic treatment, there must be a reason. First and foremost, ask him/her for the reason. He/she may not be able to make the cosmetic correction you are seeking with orthodontic treatment. ALWAYS go to the source. Without seeing records, no one can answer your question on line.

Discuss other option: Talk to your dentist about other options to achieve your goals, possibly cosmetic procedures that will improve your smile. Good luck!

Ask Questions: If your desired outcome doesn't match what your orthodontist believes you need, or perhaps is something that could better be achieved another way, then perhaps orthodontia is not in your best interest. In any case, ask more questions, communicate openly, and hopefully you will both understand each other better. If you can't agree on the goals and methods of treatment, a 2nd opinion might helpful.
