Chains and elastics: Not likely. Once gaps are closed and teeth are repositioned, there is a period of "finalizaton" of positioning which means months more treatment. All good things take time.

Nope: Sounds like you're in the middle of rx. But do the math. How long did your orthodontist tell you rx would take? How long have you been in rx? Subtract one from the other for an estimate. Or better still, ask your orthodontist.

Orthodontic treatmen: You are in one of the last phases of braces. Spaces are closed and then some detailing is done and suddenly you are brace free. Smile.

Could be: But the only one who can give you an honest answer is your orthodontist as these may also be mechanisms he/she is using during the course of treatment. I would ask them this question.

Ask your doctor: Your orthodontist is in the best position to evaluate where you are in treatment with respect to the treatment goals, and can therefore give you a better approximation of how close you are to the end of your treatment. Everyone's physiology is different. Be patient. Your doctor is attempting to achieve a result that will hopefully last a lifetime.
