Common: After removal of orthopaedic hardware, especially when bone was removed to get the hardware out, or smooth off bone overgrowth, it's common to limit weight bearing for 4-6 weeks. The bone is surprisingly susceptible to fracture after removing a screw. 4-6 weeks is the time needed by the bone to strengthen around the screw hole.
