See below.: Ambien (zolpidem) is meant to be used on a short term basis for sleep disturbances. You should discuss your symptoms w/ a psychiatrist or therapist if the insomnia is prolonged. Anxiety, depression ; poor sleep habits can cause insomnia. Try not to eat, drink caffeine or do stressful things less than 2 hrs before bedtime. Cognitive-behavioral therapy can help.
