I have a 5 cm thyroid nodule w/ blood flow, report says needs biopsy, what does this mean?

Needle biopsy : Nodules of that size can be biopsied using a technique called fine needle aspiration. The skin over the nodule is numbed with a local anesthetic. Then, usually with ultrasound guidance, a needle is passed through the skin into the nodule. A small sample is taken and then analyzed under a microscope.
