Celexa vs. Lexapro (escitalopram): Celexa is a ssri. Although it is structurally unrelated to the other ssris, citalopram is a potent reuptake inhibitor of 5-ht. Compared to the other ssri's, citalopram is a relatively weak inhibitor of the cytochrome p-450 enzyme system. Celexa is used in ocd and panic disorder. Lexapro is a newer ssri and is not approved by fda for treating ocd or panic disorder.
