Likely infection: Not because you were messing with it over night. There are a lot of possibilities. Most likely it is an iinfection. If it is not getting worse see a dentist tomorrow. If it is getting worse go to the er.

See a dentist asap: Not sure how you irritated the tooth by "messing with it, " but if you are swollen, then get to a dentist asap.
