Possibly shingles.: If this developed over a short period of time and especially if you develop a skin rash, then shingles is a strong possibility. This is the same virus that causes chicken pox and can sometimes be treated with anti viral medications to lessen symptoms. You should see your medical doctor ASAP. If they are not available go to hospital Emergency room.

Acute herpes zoster : Symptomatic treatment with analgesics is recommended. Also for most cases of acute HZ the use of antiviral therapy (acyclovir, famciclovir or valacyclovir), is recommended to prevent postherpetic neuralgia. Take care.
