Ask your doc ...: It is most logical & pertinent to ask the ordering doctor although you are probably going to have an ultrasound imaging study to visualize the size, shape, & texture of uterus and its nearby structures such as Fallopian tubes & ovaries, which will be done through vagina; that is why you will have sedation to ease the related un-comfortableness.
