A member asked:

Is it possible for someone who has the g6pd blood condition to donate blood?

Sure: We'd lose up to 10% of our donors in some areas if we made this restriction.

Probably not: G6PD deficiency has been shown to potentially cause infants hemolytic anemia. As a result, since G6PD is not checked for in the donated blood, babies if transfused with this blood, may become ill. For yourself, be aware of drugs you should not take including sulfa and antimalarials. No fava beans. Talk with your doctor. Thanks for wanting to donate!
