No: It's not the appliance, it's the type of treatment. If teeth are expanded off of bone support the gums and underlying bone can melt away. Overly aggressive brushing can cause recession. Please discuss your recession with both a qualified occlusion specialist, an orthodontist, and a qualified gum/bone specialist, a periodontist.

Maybe: If you have noticed that your experiencing gum recession recently, seek an opinion from a periodontist before commencing with any tooth movement (clear aligners or braces). In active periodontal disease, tooth movement could exasserbate the periodonal condition.

NO, but...: Invisalign is most likely NOT the problem. Aggressive-scrubbing-forceful-brushing motions ( for several years) is most likely the cause... I tell this to 85% of new patient that i see!!
