A member asked:

I have a fracture tip of right medial malleolus and fracture medial aspect right talus. there is soft tissue swelling due to injury. what medication?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

How old?: If the injury is brand new, cold applications and elevation of the leg are used for 24to48 hours or as long as swelling is present. If there is no evidence of bleeding, antiinflammatories like ibuprofen(if you can take them) may reduce pain and swelling tylenol (acetaminophen) can also be used and doesn't worsen bleeding. Otherwise prescription pain relievers are used for pain relief.
