Yes but: You certainly can have orthodontic treatment. However first make sure you are being treated by a well respected orthodontist (not a general dentist who does some orthodontics) who is aware of your tmjoint issues and will factor this into his\her treatment to improve rather than exacerbate any problems.

Specialist: If you have malocclusion it is recommended that you correct the bite to enhance the relationship between the way your teeth come together and to synchronize them with the way your joints fit into the temporal sockets and to allow the meniscus to function properly without clicking. You need an orthodontist who specializes in TMJ and a prosthodontist. Dr mokbel, scdentalimplants.Com.

Yes: Resolution of your malocclusion will probably result in reduction of TMJ symptoms. You need to see a qualified orthodontic specialist and you need braces, not clear aligners.

Yes, but: While it is possible that the braces will help your tmj, and often do, there is no guarantee to this. Tmj can be caused by a wide range of variables and ortho treatment is not 100% effective in addressing this.

Yes, you can: Braces done by the right orthodontist can actually help. The right orthodontist should be able to monitor your orthodontic progress and evaluate your TMJ on 3 month basis. If any serious complications will arise the referral to orofacial pain specialist is warranted. Call your orthodontist for evaluation and treatment.

Yes but: Yes but make sure your orthodontist is 1) board certified and 2) is very experienced with TMJ patients. Ask him/her.
