Ultrasounds: They are looking at the anatomy and for any sign of something that should not be there such as a growth, a tumor, or a cyst.

Renal ultrasound: Sonographic imaging of the kidney can reveal a number of conditions. It screens for congenital abnormalities of the kidney as well as obstruction, tumors, cysts and larger kidney. Abnormalities found with renal ultrasound offer require more sophisticated forms of imaging to clarify.

Size, shape,: Number, location of the kidney. The presence of cystic or solid masses, stones, enlargement of renal pelvis and proximal ureter, associated structures such as renal arteries, adrenal glands and lymph nodes, and anything else they can see on the scan related, or not related to the kidneys.
