Pain control: And comfort and safety are the keys. It is up to you and your surgeon to choose the right anesthesia for you according to your needs. You may have local anesthesia, conscious sedation, deep sedation that depresses your consciousness; or general anesthesia, which makes you lose consciousness.

Case specific: Some wisdom teeth can be removed simply using only local anesthesia(numbing). However, impacted wisdom teeth or third molars can be more difficult. Sedation of the patient can help to calm patient, and allow surgeon to work quickly and uninterrupted. The patient can get the procedure done once and forget it.
