Maybe: This should have been discussed with your surgeon before your elective appointment. If you are going to be put to sleep, there will be nothing to eat or drink after midnight... Wasn't all of this discussed with you when you made the appointment? I suggest you call the office asap to get further instructions before your surgery is cancelled.

Would be good idea..: Hopefully an oral surgeon is the one performing the procedure for you - they are the experts in this and can offer the most efficient and smooth procedure. With respect to requiring sedation, it is not an absolute necessity. However, in my chicago practice, ora oral surgery & implant studio, i rarely perform the procedure without some form of sedation. Sedation makes the whole process very easy.

No.: Only allow sedation if its at an office that uses the meds routinely for this procedure and has the appropriate monitors: pulse ox, o2 monitor if gas used.
