Modest: In most cases, spinal surgery for back pain without leg symptoms is a last resort, and may reduce pain by about half. There are exceptions, such as correction of instability. Barring these, surgery is controversial. Recent studies are questioning the value of such surgery. If you are considering it, you may wish to get a second or even third opinion. Many factors can cause ; influence back pain.
