Maybe: It may be but usually not too bad. The pain should be managed easily with a prescription pain medication although many patients find tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil is adequate.

Unlikely: Unlikely. Usually very comfortable. Make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral surgeon.
