A member asked:

Does over sensitive hearing exist in adults, or we all lose some hearing by adulthood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hearing loss: Almost but not quite all of us will lose some hearing, particularly in higher frequencies, as we get older. Factors that determine this are our exposure to sustained loud noises (machine operations, loud concerts/headphones, etc.) and simple aging that leads to a condition called "presbycusis", mild, progressive, high frequency hearing loss associated with aging.
