They come in between the ages of 17 and 25. Pain in the area, ear aches, bad taste, tenderness on opening could be among the symptoms of an infected wisdom tooth

Ear Infection or TMJ: TMJ syndrome may cause ear pain, ringing in the ears and muffled hearing. Often people mistake TMJ pain for an ear problem (ear infection), when the ear is not the problem at all. See your PCP for a differential diagnosis.
