The top of my right thumb has been numb (but getting less so) for ~ but <1 week (i woke up one day and it was like that). what might cause this? i'm a 30 yr old active male with no known health probs.

Numb thumb: You may have carpal tunnel syndrome. If symptoms persist see a hand surgeon.

Compression : The most common cause of your symptoms would be compression neuropathy. This can occur of the thumb or nerve was pinched while you slept. Another possibility is the circulation to your thumb being cut off temporarily. Both usually heal with time.
