Depends: This really should be examined in person, and is not suited to a internet diagnosis. Depends on injury, was thumb jammed? If so, possibly compressed structures in bones of hand/wrist and sometimes wrist inflammation turns inward not outward and that is something to seek care for, as entrapment of neurovascular elements within the wrist can be a real problem. Suggest see md/orthopedist. Good luck.
