Mouth Guard: Orthodontic mouth guards are designed to allow tooth alignment . Regular mouth guards prevent tooth movement, slow orthodontic progress, and can dislodge braces. If your orthodontic specialist gave you an orthodontic mouth guard you must wear it for any and all contact sports to prevent broken braces, broken teeth, and severe lacerations of lips/cheeks/tongue/gums. Check w your orthodontist.

Can't go without: You cannot practice or play football without a mouth guard. Need to talk to the orthodontist who can make a temporary mouth guard, but with the knowledge that it will have to be altered often so teeth can move with the braces. This is one of the few times that i might recommend an otc mouth guard.
