Deliberate: Sometimes it's because the orthodontist wants to move just the teeth that are now engaged, making it easier to treat the others later. Sometimes it has to do with your bite interfering with bracket placement. Sometimes it's insurance driven...As insurance pays less the practitioner may be trying to economize. Ask your orthodontic specialist. Every patient's different.
