Start General: Bruxism or clenching can be horrible. Many times the reason is fairly simple and can be corrected with an occlusal guard. Other times the cause is more exotic and requires the need of a specialist. See your general dentist and ask questions, you should get good answers and good guidance, move from there as needed!

Need diagnosis: Have your general dentist make you an occlusal orthotic immediately to protect your teeth from further damage while your dentist searches for the cause. Could be malocclusion, posterior bite collapse, over contoured restoration, medication, neurological problem, psychiatric problem, joint dysfunction, muscle imbalance, or other causes. Start with your dentist.
