TMJ pain: Occlusal guards are very important to wear if you are having TMJ pain. There are many dentists that may make night guards. The most important thing is that you are seeing a dentist that has been well trained in treating TMJ problems.

Good info: Make sure the " night guard" is a specially made one, from a dental office -- all night guards are not the same! make sure your doctor has had experience with different style night guards, and knows which is the best style for you.

Need more than mp: A mouthpiece alone usually will not help tmj/tmd. Tmj is never cured, just maintained. A mouthpiece, if recommended, is a part of the healing process and should not be ignored.
