Tooth extraction pai: The best over the counter pain reliever for post extraction pain in my experience is ibuprobhen. It simply works better then alieve, aspirin, or tylonol(acitominophen). Ibuprophen is sold under the trade names, motrin, advill, and some others. Basicly you can take up to 800mg every six hours according to package directions but it only lasts 4 hours so take up to 4 advill every 4 hours.

NSAID: Best is usually Ibuprofen or alleve. Most do best with ibuprofen. I would not take more than 600mg 4x/day for 3days. If pain continues past this time, see your surgeon-- possible dry socket. Women frequently seem to do well with the alleve. Another is a combination of 400 mg Ibuprofen (motrin / advil) and 500 mg acetominophen (tylenol) every 6 hours. Take at least 12-16 ounces of water with this.
