Wanted to know if i can see a dentist just to get a prescription?

Prescription?: Dentists are not there to give you prescriptions they check your teeth and gums, xrays if indicated and treat any dental and gum disease, all inclusive so why will you want to go to a dentist for a prescription and for what.
