Prescription?: Dentists are not there to give you prescriptions they check your teeth and gums, xrays if indicated and treat any dental and gum disease, all inclusive so why will you want to go to a dentist for a prescription and for what.

Depends On Your Need: One thing is for sure: no dentist will give you a prescription of any kind without you becoming a "patient of record" and receiving an examination. Once a diagnosis is made, then it can be determined if a prescription would be appropriate. If it is, then the dentist MAY decide to write it for you. However, many dentists do not prescribe certain drugs--such as narcotics--under any conditions.
