Ist Molars 2nd opin: Open bites are corrected generally with orthodontics and sometimes with extraction of the premolars to create room for the other teeth. I would get a second opinion as molar extraction is not done generally and many times where room is not an issue open bites do not require molar extraction or other extractions;i am assuming the bone levels around the molars is good to excellent given your age.

Get 2nd opinion: Normally molar teeth are not extracted for orthodontic reasons premolar teeth are. I would want to know why the molar tooth is being sacrificed. Was it damaged or deformed? If i had to recommend it being extracted, i would point out to the patient that I have no choice but to do it because something is seriously wrong with that molar and then explain why i felt that way.
