A member asked:

I have high psa. mri done in uk and scheduled for biopsy. us doctor also recommends a prostate biopsy. is there significant difference b/n uk and us?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not sure: Doubt there's any differences at this point between uk ; us. High psa = possible prostate cancer. Next step is to see if it is and that's when you might be faced with some tough management decisions. Plan to get 2nd opinions then for sure. Only caveat is if psa is barely elevated ; only slowly trending in that direction--then it may be reasonable to just follow and delay biopsy. Otherwise, biopsy.
