Have the x-ray: If you are in pain, it is safer to have the x-ray and have the problem treated than to let the problem go. The treating dentist will have to have an x-ray in order to manage your problem correctly and see what is causing your pain. One single x-ray will have minimal radiation and the dentist should cover you with a lead apron. The risk to your baby will be very small.

Sadly an: X-ray is necessary to accurately diagnose your situation. With that said if the x-rays are digital the radiation is even lower than film based x-ray, which is already low to begin with. Additionally they can lead apron you on both sides or double apron you for added safety. Consult with your treating dr. You should be fine. Congratulations on the pregnancy. Hope this helps.

Dental x-ray: There is no problem having an x-ray, especially if you are protected with a lead apron. Pain and/or infection from the tooth is a greater risk and should be addressed at this time. If the pain is just from the tooth pushing through the gum, it can usually be controlled with mild pain medication and pallitive treatment.
