Don't be scared: What you describe is not typical of oral cancer. Most common cause of swelling is infection, as in an abscessed tooth, which your Dentist would have diagnosed. An extra tooth or bone-damage from cancer would have appeared on the x-ray. Sometimes your body grows benign boney bumps (exostoses). If you are still concerned, seek examination by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
