Geographic Tongue: Yes, there are medications to ease the pain of geographic tongue when that occurs, but first see your own dentist to confirm the diagnosis. Avoid hot, spicy and acidic foods and see if that's enough to make you feel comfortable first. If not, your own dentist can prescribe something as otc medications won't work as well.

Mystery: Geographic tongue is quite often a mystery that may appear after stress, meds, supplements, nutrition, etc. It is usually no a problem unless pain occurs where some rinses may help.

See dentist: Geographic tongue is not painful... There is something else going on with your tongue. See a dentist or oral surgeon for an evaluation.

Yes: Most of the time, geographic tongue is a painless inflammatory lesion. In some cases, however, it is commonly known that a burning sensation can be elicited from the denuded areas on the tongue--especially sensitive to acidic foods (vinegar, tomato, etc.). In these cases, topical analgesic/steroid rinses can be prescribed to help ease pain. See your dentist because other causes must be ruled out.
