Won't help: better take a pain killer, unless contraindicated, and call or see your dentist if symptoms persist, good luck

Call a dentist: Orajel is great for teething babies, when the pain is from a tooth that is erupting through the gum. For adults, the treatment of choice is to be immediately seen by a dentist. Orajel prolongs the inevitable.. An emergency if the tooth is not treated soon. Please make the call and feel better tomorrow, .

Pain: In Canada you can ask the pharmacist for Tylenol (acetaminophen) #1 which will help the pain. Make sure you are taking antibiotics. Use compresses. Fell better soon.

Orajel: Not necessary to worry about it. It's just a topical anesthetic and the amount ingested should pose no problem.

Expedite your appt.: Try to expedite your dental appointment.  In the interum, perhaps it would be helpful to purchase an over the counter product like Dent-Temp to hold you over.

No: It won't cause any permanent harm.

As : As dr mcleod recommended, try a different otc pain reliever. Do you have an infection? Were you examined for this tooth? If you have an infection then an antibiotic will revieve some of the pressure.

Forget the orajel and mouthwash. They are not going to help this type of pain

You can try..: Orajel is quite safe, but not terribly powerful medicine to help with pain. It won't hurt to try it. You are already on antibiotic and so should be ok. You can consider adding motrin/aleve. Also, consult your doc/dentist to see if it is appropriate to increase your pain medicine i.e. Taking two tylenol/codeine at once may provide better pain control. Good luck.

Depends: How long ago was it done? I recommend patients wait 2-3 days before salt water rinsing and orajel etc.as it can dislodge the blood clot needed for healing resulting in a dry socket.  Try to follow your postop instructions to a tee.
