You can try..: Orajel is quite safe, but not terribly powerful medicine to help with pain. It won't hurt to try it. You are already on antibiotic and so should be ok. You can consider adding motrin/aleve. Also, consult your doc/dentist to see if it is appropriate to increase your pain medicine i.e. Taking two tylenol/codeine at once may provide better pain control. Good luck.

You can: You can put it on but it is a temporary topical anesthetic and will numb it for a little for a short time. Ibuprofen is better in removing inflammation which causes part of the pain than tylenol (acetaminophen) with codein, so you might want to get prescription for it for examole take advil 600 mg every 6 hrs

Oragel: Will only give temporary relief. Take motrin/ Ibuprofen 800 mg every 8 hours for few days. Sounds like you have an infection . You will need antibiotics to help bring swelling/ infection/ pain down
