No: the symptoms of acid reflux are heart burns and cough. Sometimes it has overlap with asthma. And the treatments include antacids which neutralize the acid  secretions in the stomach. Also useful are agents that decrease the production of acid. Two main classes of meds are the h2 blockers like ranitidine and famotidine, and the proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, lansaprazole, and esomeprazole.

Many Possibilities: If this is chronic and not a new problem may need to consider your diet such as things like coffee, smoking, spicy foods, and alcohol intake. Also there can be a chronic infection of the stomach that can cause this called h. Pylori which can be tested for by blood and stool tests. This is treatable with antibiotics. Also try otc meds like Zantac (ranitidine) and Prilosec with maalox. Try changing diet as well.

Bland liquids: Low fat or skimmed milk is good.  Many juices are acidic(except for apple juice) Avoid carbonated drinks(Fiizzy drinks cause discomfort). Be careful with alcohol use and the choice of liquor,  and Coffee too...all are strong irritants

See ENT: It definitely could be reflux or something on a tonsil or throat.  Go see an ENT who can look down your throat and see.  May also need a look in your stomach if nothing is seen in your throat.

Diet...: You just said it: Heavy meal and then sweets...If the meal consisted of greasy food or a lot of sauces and carbohydrates and then you add sweets( more carbs) then that is a prefect combination to upset your stomach and trigger acid reflux. Try to keep a low fat, non fried, low carb diet, avoid caffeine as well.

Generally safe: This is highly effective (and comes with a belch that some people find satisfying). But relief and protection of esophagus is brief. It's a large sodium load (equal to the same amount of table salt), a serious problem in people with high blood pressure or certain heart, liver, or kidney problems. Better to use antacid tablets or liquids, which are highly effective and easily available worldwide.
