Diet...: You just said it: Heavy meal and then sweets...If the meal consisted of greasy food or a lot of sauces and carbohydrates and then you add sweets( more carbs) then that is a prefect combination to upset your stomach and trigger acid reflux. Try to keep a low fat, non fried, low carb diet, avoid caffeine as well.

Reflux: Try to avoid heavy meals at night, concentrated sweets specifically, carbonated drinks. Your symptoms are suggestive of gastroesophageal reflux.
