No: the symptoms of acid reflux are heart burns and cough. Sometimes it has overlap with asthma. And the treatments include antacids which neutralize the acid secretions in the stomach. Also useful are agents that decrease the production of acid. Two main classes of meds are the h2 blockers like ranitidine and famotidine, and the proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, lansaprazole, and esomeprazole.

No: Gargling with salt water may help your throat if it is irritated from the reflux but it does not keep the acid down. You can take antacids for the reflux but also avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. Maintain a healthy weight. eat small meals and avoid eating before bedtime. All these things will help decrease the reflux.
